About Us

Creative Parties for Kids, director, Lisa Cohen started Creative Parties for Kids in 1989 after one of her dance students asked her to do a party. It was so fun that she has continued performing at parties and events for over 25 years. The ideas and concepts for all of the theme parties stem from her years of experience as a teacher of creative arts for young children. Her Masters of Education in Educational Administration thesis was on the relationship between the arts and education. So, each of her parties, whether performed by Lisa or one of the other entertainers, reflects the creative, fun and yet educational approach to party entertainment. She has raised her daughter Leah Machelle Cohen, (currently an actress and college student in L.A) , by being a professional children's entertainer and teacher.

The company enjoyed their first television appearance in 1989 on The CBS Home Show. They created a fabulous Alice in Wonderland Tea Party using all original music and inter-active games that fit into the story. This appearance launched the company, and since then they have appeared at thousands of events, parties and public performances.

Creative Parties for Kids was recently the company chosen to provide the princess entertainment on " The Real Housewives of Orange County. " They have been featured in Orange Coast Magazine, Vogue Japan, The Orange County Register, and Woman's World. (For Leah's 6th Birthday "Kids Cancer Connection Alice Tea Party").

Lisa Karen Cohen has been performing and teaching children for 34 of her 50 years. Enchanting children and igniting their imaginations by inviting them to go with her to places of pretend and possibilities has been her life's work. She has a BA in Theatre and Dance from University of Colorado Boulder, she performed with The Denver Center Theatre Company and studied acting at The American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco. She loves teaching young actors to use their skills to entertain kids. She has her own kids TV show called :The StoryLady's Magic Book which airs on Time Warner Cable weekly. Creative Parties For Kids in Community
Leah decided to have this party because her grandma, my Mom, had just had lung cancer surgery. I wanted to make sure her vision of helping other kids came to fruition. We planned and executed this party in May 1999. It was done in conjunction with The Kids Cancer Connection based out of Newport Beach, CA.

Creative Parties for Kids does a lot of community outreach performances and appearances. We are always ready to lend a helping hand and a happy face. We have created the KidTopia Entertainment at The Israel Expo the past 4 years, we have worked with autistic and developmentally disabled children and adults through the Orange County Children's Therapeutic Arts Center, and performed at The Under The Sea day at The Miller Children's Hospital in Long Beach. Speaking of children battling cancer, we would like to share with you this lovely article written many years ago, about Leah's 6th birthday party. This Alice in Wonderland party brought sick and well children together for a fabulous, fun tea party....where no one knew who was sick and who was not. It was all a dream. Enjoy the article.....
